About Nirjala Ekadashi Vrat
Nirjala Ekadashi Vrat falls in the month of Jayestha in the sukla Paksha.Nirjala ekadashi Vrat known as Bhim Ekadashi Vrat and Jayestha Sukala Ekadashi Vrat.Amongst the 24 Ekadashi's observed throughout the year, the fast (Vrat) observed on Jyeshtha Shukla Ekadashi is considered to be the most beneficial, if one properly observes a fast on this day it is said to give the fruits of 24 Ekadashi observed throughout the year.
The literal meaning of Nirjala is “without water”. This reason makes Nirjala Ekadashi Vrat the most difficult as well as the most sacred. Devotees find this fast more difficult and strict than others, as it falls in the summer season when surviving without water is not an easy task. Being a 24-hour long fast, Nirjala Ekadashi Vrat starts from sunrise of the day and ends on the sunrise of the next day i.e. Dwadashi (the twelfth day). This holy day is spent in the dedication of Lord Vishnu and chanting Mantras. However, if someone is unable to observe the Nirjala Ekadasi Vrat due to any reason, they can make donations to the needy people for seeking blessings of this meritorious day.
