Cheti Chand Festival Celebration

Cheti Chand is celebrated on the first day of the Chaitra month known as Chet in Sindhi. Celebrates the festival of Cheti Chand in honour of the birth of Ishtadeva Uderolal, popularly known as Jhulelal, the Patron Saint of the Sindhis.The Sindhis of India celebrate New Year as Cheti Chand.On this day, Sindhis worship the water. On this day, people will visit the bank of nearby lake and offer puja with jyot, misiri, phota, fal, akha,  kalash, and nariyal. People then wish each other “Cheti Chand jyon Lakh Lakh Wadayun Athav.”The pot or a water jar is also there which has got a coconut in it and these are covered with flowers and leaves. The idol of Jhulelal is also taken to the water.
The main festival starts by the worshiping the lord Jhulelal and Bahrano. Men perform the folk dance, Chej on Sindhi music before the idol of Jhulelal.
All the organizations or institutions dedicated to Sindhis, celebrate this festival with gaiety and pomp. Aarti of the Sea God of the Sindhis- Jhulelal Sain is performed.
