Bakra Eid or Eid al-Adha Celebration

Bakrid is one of the most popular festivals celebrated by the Muslims all over the world where it is known as Eid-Al-Adha.The festival is all about giving and sacrificing in the name of Allah. This religious festival falls on the 10th day of the month of Dhul Hijjah in the lunar Islamic calendar and continues till the 12th day. Bakra Eid or id al-Adha celebrated in remembrance of sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham in Bible and Tawrah) Alaihissalam.

The celebrations of the festival are marked by new clothes and attires for everyone in the family. In most places it is observed as a national holiday. There is also the custom of sacrificing animals on the occasion of the festival. The process is known as “Qurbani”. After the Qurbani, the meat is distributed among friends and relatives and greetings are exchanged. Qurbani is believed to bring prosper and happiness to the family and the sacrifice is a symbol of the devotion of the people to the almighty. 

The meat of the animal so slaughtered is divided into three equal portions. While the first part is consumed by the family, the other two parts are distributed among neighbors and friends, family members and poor people. While distributing the meat of the slaughtered animal, people greet one another and feast on sumptuous and delicious delicacies prepared on this day. The festival gives one an opportunity to meet near and dear ones and get closer. Special gatherings and parties are organized on this special season. Also, a number of outings and picnics are especially planned during these three days. Muslims across the world indulge in spreading joy and happiness through celebrating this festival.

Eid al-Adha, Id-ul-Zuha or Bakri Id  is an important festival in the Islamic calendar of religious observances.The Muslim festival of sacrifice , Id-ul-Zuha (Arabic) or Bakri Id or Id-ul-Adha in India is celebrated all over the country and Muslim country.On this days  Muslims sacrifice a goat or Bakr(Urdu) to commemorate the sacrifice of  Prophet Ibrahim, who willingly agreed to kill his son at the behest of God.This festival coincides with the Haj pilgrimage in Macca.Prayers are offered in the mosques and the sacrificial meat is then distributed after the Id prayers.Special delicacies are prepared and served among family and friends on the occasion.

It is a commemoration of  Hazarat Ibrahim's great test of obedience to Allah, who ordered him  to sacrifice the person dearest to him.Ibrahim decided to sacrifice his son Ismail, at Mina, near Mecca.As a grest religious leader was on the point of applying the sword to the throat of his dear son, it was revealed to him that the exercise was merely a test of his faith in Allah, and that he could sacrifice a ram instead.
