Happy Gandhi Jayanti 2020: Wishes, Images, Quotes, SMS, WhatsApp & Facebook Status to celebrate the occasion

October 2 is a very special day for India. It is the birthday of the ‘father of the nation’ and one of the most famous freedom fighters, Mahatma Gandhi.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was on October 2 1869, in Porbandar which is situated in Gujarat. A barrister by profession in South Africa, he played an extremely important role in helping attain its freedom from the British rule.

While other freedom fighters indulged in violent agitation to attain the same purpose, Gandhi went about the peaceful way which he felt would be more effective. He strongly practiced ‘ahimsa’ which means non-violence, which was a breath of fresh air in the rising tensions between the Indian masses and its British rulers. He was affectionately called ‘Bapu’ for the country.

His peaceful approach towards achieving the same goal became extremely popular, so much so it eventually gave more impetus to the independence movement.

Even today, Gandhiji is remembered for his valuable contribution towards helping India gain its independence. His various principles are practiced not just in the country but all around the world as well.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi, is one of the most inspirational figures of the Indian history – a great leader, a social reformer and an anti-colonial nationalist. Throughout his life, Gandhi fearlessly fought for the rights and dignity of people, also fought to rid Indian society of the age-old and deep-seated prejudice against the Untouchable castes. Gandhi employed non-violent resistance to lead the successful campaign for the independence of India from the colonial rule. His constant promotion of non-violence as a tool has not only freed India from the British but also won millions of hearts leaving its mark on the world. Therefore, we can rightly call him the “father of the nation”.

Once he became the victim of racism in South Africa which badly affected his soul, from then he started opposing the social evil of racism.

After his returning to India he met Gopala Krishna Gokhale and joined the movements of Indian freedom struggle in order to raise his voice against British rule. On the way to freedom of India he started various movements such as non-cooperation movement in 1920, dandi march in 1930 and quit India movement in 1942. He was a great patriotic leader whom continuous efforts forced Britishers to go back on their back foot in 1947.
