Somvati Amavasya is a day of worship to the supreme power of the world the “Lord Vishnu”. Lord Vishnu is most important deity of Hindu religion. According to Hindu mythology he is a lord who maintaining the whole world.
Somvati Amavasya is also celebrated as a worship day of “lord Shiva” and our dead ancestors too. Somvati Amavasya is the day on which in ancient time of the country there was a character “Yudhistira” of a great epic Mahabharata had taken a Snkalp for his destiny.
