Every year more then three million national and international tourists visit mount abu enjoying its scenic beauty, rich flora & fauna as well as the marble art of Delwara Jain temples and Winter festival.Over the years, the Winter Festival has attracted several local as well as foreign tourists.The Mount Abu Wnter Festival is a three day long festival that emphasizes the beauty of the hill station and the hospitable culture and tradition of the region.
The celebrations generally begin with a ceremonial procession which starts from the RTDC Hotel Shikhar and proceeds further in the hill station. The procession gets together and ends at Nakki Lake Chowk, this is followed by folk and dance performances by troupes from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana and nearby states. The festival closes with a grand finale display of amazing fireworks.
Another great attraction of the festival is the floating of large number of lamps on the Nakki Lake. This particular practice is known as Deepdaan. The very sight of numerous lighted lamps floating in the river will be a treat to the eye.
History of the Winter Festival Mount Abu
The Winter Festival in Mount Abu, Rajasthan also has a rich history. It
was the joint initiative of Municipal Board of Tamil Nadu and the
Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation to start this festival. The
festival was started off as way to provide the much needed break to
citizens from the monotony of every day life.
