Hanuman Jayanti is a Hindu festival, celebrated all over India to commemorate the birth of Lord Hanuman.He was born to (wind-God) Kesari and Anjani.According to legends he was born as a monkey god to serve Lord Rama.Hanuman Jayanti is  Ashwin Vadya Chaturdashi while others quote it to be on Chaitra Paurnima.

The birth of Lord Hanuman precedes a number of divine events.Lord Shiva was precedes of Anjani and Pavan, the  wind god , and consequently blessed them with a son, who later on came to be know as Hanuman.Lord Hanuman was born on the chaitra Shukla Purnima (Full moon day on the Hindu calendar month Chaitra)( March-April).Lord Hanuman is also called by the names, Maruti, Pavanputra, Bajarangbali and Mahavira.

In most Hanuman Temples, Lord  Hanuman is worshiped either along with Lord Ram or seperately  in temples.Also known as an avatara of Lord Rama, he is considered the god of power( Maruti).He was a brahmchari or celebate. Hanumanji became a legend mainly for his unflinching devotion and loyaltees cannot be troubled by negative energies.

Special prayers are held and Hanuman Chalisha is also read and recited by his devotees.This festival is more important among brahmcharis (celibates), body builders and wrestlers.Saturday and Tuesday are considered as the auspicious days to worship Lod Hanuman.Hanumanji is considered as a symbol of strength and energy.Lord Ram is remembered and prayed on this day.
